The House By The Lake Premiers in Paris!
Since leaving for New York I was unable to attend each performance of “The House by the Lake”, as I did when I was in Israel. Yael Rasooly and Yaara Goldring, the show’s creators, have concocted an incredible show that is full of every imaginable theatrical device. The result is a touching and visually stunning show, that is surprising in every performance. That is why I was so happy to hear that the show will be seen outside of Israel too.
When Yael and I were working on the score, it was quite clear to us that the show should be seen internationally. And the show was written with this in mind. The show’s dialog mixes English, French, German Yiddish and Hebrew, and the songs’ lyrics are all in English.
A few weeks ago the whole production, with it’s massive sets, three actresses and crew traveled to perform in Paris. This was our European premier, and hopefully the first stop in many more in the continent. The show played at the Théâtre de la Cité Internationale as part of “Scènes Ouvertes à L’insolite” arranged by Théâtre de la Marionnette à Paris. From what I’ve heard the show was enthusiastically received! So here’s hopin’ for more European excursions for the cast!
