"Broadway Charity Songs" is a wonderful initiative by "Broadway Gives Back" which aims to raise money for important causes through new musical theater songs.
Each composer-lyricist is matched with a charity, and writes a song inspired by the charity's work.
All the songs will be performed in concert on Monday, February 24, 2014 at 7:00 PM, at Le Poisson Rouge.
I was matched with a wonderful charity orgnaziation - The Fresh Air Fund. Each summer The Fresh Air Fund, an independent, not-for-profit agency, provides thousands of New York City children with unforgettable summer experiences that unlock their limitless potential. Inner city kids get to experience the great American outdoors, through summer camps and host communities that take kids for a few weeks of fun in the country.
Inspired by the Fund's great activity I wrote a sweet song called "Things I Discovered".
The song will be premiered at the "Broadway Charity Songs", performed by the wonderful Anthony Pierini who, at 11, i...
I am very excited to present excerpts from The Femme Fatale Show at The Ziegfeld Club.
The Ziegfeld club was established in 1936 by Florenz Ziegfeld's wife, Billy Burke, and is commited to preserving the traditions of Ziegfeld's shows, and assisting women in the theater (continuing to glorify the American Girl).
This special presentation of songs from The Femme Fatale Show, titled "Les Follies Fatale" is directed by Kathleen Conry, and will include a cast of gorgeous Broadway talents- Elizabeth Ward Land (Passion, Scarlet Pimpernel), Natalie Charle Ellis (Les Miserables), Kathy Calahan (Mary Poppins) and Chelsea Myers. I am thrilled to work with such great talented ladies and in such a wonderful organization, on the first public performance of "Femme Fatale" material in New York. exciting....

David Sisco’s remarkable project “The Contemporary Directory of Musical Theater Writers” is really taking off. They recently launched a new website that includes a searchable catalog of all the directory’s 300+ songs. This is great news for contemporary musical writers, whose work can now be easily accessible for singers, actors and voice teachers in search of original material.
Tell us about your song. If it’s from a musical, set the song up for us.

I am excited to have my song “The Stout-Hearted Scout” publicly presented for the first time as part of the SixFifteen Concert on 45th Street Theater. SixFifteen is a two-part concert, produced by RAL productions, featuring the works of my dear talented friends from the BMI Workshop. We will be showcasing some of the songs we have penned in the last year in what promises to be a very eclectic and fun night.
I wrote “The Stout-Hearted Scout” based on a tiny 20-second scene from the film “The Woman in the Window”, and in collaboration with Librettist David Arthur. Join us on Thursday, August 2. For tickets Click Here.
You know how people moan about the current state of original musical theater? Well, some people are resourceful enough to do something about it. David Sisco, a musical theater writer, and a lovely chap altogether, has dedicated six months to compiling an important resource: The Directory Of Contemporary Musical Theater Writers. He has collected more than 300 largely unpublished songs from many composers and lyricists working today, and crafted a professional presentation of it all to showcase at NATS Conference (National Association of Teachers of Singing). The goal of the directory is to expose voice teachers and their students to new writing, and promote up and coming talent. David really has made the directory a labor of love, and it shows.
Five of my songs are included in the directory.
Four songs from “The Femme Fatale Show“, as well as “Please, Belize” which was written as part of the BMI Workshop’s assignment to write a comedy song based on “Angels in America”. “Please, Belize”...
